This Privacy Policy explains how Wildlife SOS and Wildlife SOS India Foundation collect, use, store, and protect your personal data in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDPA") and other applicable Indian laws.  


1. Data Fiduciaries

Wildlife SOS (charitable society) and Wildlife SOS India Foundation (Section 8 Company) are separate legal entities acting as independent Data Fiduciaries under the DPDPA in respect of data collected through their respective platforms. This unified policy applies to both entities and their respective digital properties.  


2. Personal Data We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Identity data: name, date of birth, gender, government ID (where required for center entry) 
  • Contact data: email address, phone number, postal address 
  • Booking and transaction data: booking history, payment records, program preferences 
  • Health and safety data: any health disclosures made voluntarily for participation in physical programs
  • Communication data: correspondence, feedback, grievances
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, cookies (see Cookie Policy) 
  • Donation data: where applicable, under wildlifesos.org  


3. Purpose of Processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To process and fulfil bookings, registrations, and related services
  • To communicate with you regarding your bookings, program updates, and safety instructions
  • To send conservation updates, newsletters, and outreach communications (with your consent)
  • To process charitable donations and issue receipts 
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including GST, FCRA, and DPDPA
  • To improve our platform, programs, and services 
  • To enforce our Terms and Conditions and protect our legal rights 


4. Consent 

In accordance with the DPDPA, we process your personal data on the basis of your free, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.


5. Cancellations & Refunds

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties. We may share your data with: 

  • Payment gateway providers for processing transactions 
  • Technology service providers for platform hosting and operations
  • Government authorities or law enforcement where required by law 
  • Wildlife SOS or Wildlife SOS India Foundation (as applicable) for program coordination

All third-party service providers are contractually bound to process your data only as per our instructions and applicable law.


6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law (including tax and regulatory retention requirements). Upon expiry of the retention period, data will be securely deleted or anonymized.


7. Your Rights as a Data Principal

Under the DPDPA, you have the right to: 

  • Access a summary of your personal data processed by us 
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data 
  • Erase your personal data (subject to legal retention obligations)
  • Nominate a person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity
  • Grievance redressal through our designated Grievance Officer

8. Cookies

Our Platform uses cookies to enhance user experience, analyze traffic, and support booking functionality. By using the Platform, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with our Cookie Policy.


9. Cross-Border Data Transfers

We do not ordinarily transfer your personal data outside India. In the event any transfer becomes necessary, it shall be undertaken in compliance with the DPDPA and applicable data transfer regulations notified by the Government of India.


10. Children's Data

We do not knowingly collect personal data of children below 18 years of age without verifiable parental consent. Where a booking is made for a minor, the parent or guardian must provide consent on the minor’s behalf and is responsible for the accuracy of data provided.


11. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.


12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised policy will be posted on our websites with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
